Am I fit/flexible/spiritual/good enough for yoga?

The answer is usually always yes!

Yoga is about unity. It’s an inclusive practice and is not just defined by what happens on the mat.

But in terms of the classes, the aim of Amber Wellbeing is to make everyone feel at ease (I can’t even touch my toes!). Variations and alternatives will be offered throughout the class to help you find a level that suits your body type and ability, which, is especially useful if you’re a beginner. There’s no prerequisites to yoga; you do not have be flexible, strong or fit, as all these things will improve with time. You just require an open mind.

And for those of you worrying that you are not ‘spiritual enough’, these classes are about the breath, the poses and the relaxation, what you choose to make that experience and take from that class is down to you the individual.

Most importantly if you’re still unsure or you have very specific requirements, such as limited mobility or injury, please get in touch to discuss.

Can I join virtual yoga classes with just a phone?

Yes! As long as you can see me and I can see you, we’re good to go!

What equipment do I need for yoga classes?

You only need a mat. I recommend a non-slip mat if possible to prevent distraction and enable you to hold a pose safely. If you wish to bring a blanket and eye cover/mask for the relaxation always feel welcome. If you’re new to yoga or have limited flexibility (like me!) you may benefit from using yoga blocks too but if you’re unsure try a couple of classes and decide from there.

Can I book a private yoga class?

Absolutely. 1-1 yoga tuition can be so enjoyable for both student and teacher, and it can happen on a regular basis or perhaps as a one off to work on something in particular, or even as ‘first time’ yoga class to help with the nerves before joining a group class! Before taking a private client, it’s best to have a chat about your goals, reasoning, and experience to see if we can offer you what you’re looking for, so please get in contact.

What is a Nutrition & Lifestyle coach (NLC)?

A Nutrition and Lifestyle Coach is a practitioner qualified in nutrition, including dietary analysis, and lifestyle factors that impact our overall health, such as sleep, exercise and stress.

A Nutrition & Lifestyle Coach works on a 1-1 basis with you to offer personalised support. Looking holistically at your life, an NLC will go into detail about diet, stress, sleep, exercise, and other day to day habits that may affect your overall wellbeing, and then works collaboratively with you to make powerful but achievable (always achievable!) changes.

The NLC role is to educate you and advise you, but most importantly, to support you with reaching your goals and instilling changes into your daily life; you remain accountable to yourself and yourself only.

The length of time an NLC will work with a client depends on the client’s specific requirements. It’s very important to understand a Nutrition & Lifestyle Coach is not a medical practitioner but a nutrition expert, mentor, support and cheerleader!

Who does a Nutrition & Lifestyle Coach work with?

An NLC client is someone who is ready to take control of their health and wellbeing but needs a little support getting started and guidance on how to create long-lasting change.

The truth is that these days, GPs and doctors do not often have the time to offer ongoing support when it comes to improving patient’s diet and lifestyle habits. This is where an NLC can step in to bridge the gap.

There are many reasons that someone may choose to begin working with an NLC, but the end goal is the same; to adopt a healthier, preventative lifestyle to achieve optimal health and longevity.

How do I choose a coach?

Choosing the right coach for you is important and for this reason I offer a no-obligation, free discovery call. This initial call is just 10-15 minutes and is a chance for us to discuss what your goals are, any ‘problem’ areas of your life you’d like support with and a little time for us to get to know one another. We both get the opportunity to assess whether we’re a good match and if I’m the right practitioner to help you on your journey.

To arrange a discovery call, please fill in the ‘Contact Us’ form and I’ll contact you to book a suitable time.

What qualifications do you have?

I’m both a qualified Hatha Yoga instructor and Nutrition & Lifestyle Coach.

I completed a 200 hour teacher training programme with Akram Yoga in Surrey, which, is fully accredited by the Yoga Alliance UK. I am also a Yoga Alliance member.

For Nutrition & Lifestyle Coaching I studied with the Institute of Health Sciences in Dublin and qualified with a Crossfields Institute level 4 diploma; an internationally recognised qualification regulated by Ofqual.
